What Painting is for me

Painting for me has always felt like being back home again, wherever that might be.  Of course, it is not a literal place, but rather a state of mind.  I am totally myself, free to enjoy my own world of self-discovery. 

From childhood on, I always wanted to be an artist and I think it is a blessing to know for certain what your calling is in life, but I have to admit that I did not always take advantage of what was right in front of my eyes.  After doing other things for years, I finally came to the conclusion that life is short and that I must do what I love the most in this world now and that is my artwork. 

My art, in essence, chose me, and so did my subject matter.  I am attracted to the beauty around me in nature, and in people, with whom I find empathy and love, at a soul level.  I am attracted to expressing the contemporary scene, always with people around doing everyday things, and telling a story about them, seeing the extraordinary in the ordinary. 

Making portraits and narrative paintings are what I find most captivating in my work.  They are treasures that stop a moment in time and become lifelong heirlooms for families.

My Art

My art is my passion.  It is my lifelong journey of challenges and discoveries.  It is my path of constantly striving to be better, one painting or drawing at a time.  My progression shows in my constant stream of artwork. 

It is true that art for me is about my own personal quest for growth.  However, most of all, my art is a means of having a spiritual communication between me and my fellow human beings.
